It’s Not Fairy-Fair!

I thought my first post back from a very long yet wonderful weekend would be a happy fun-filled one, telling all about my 9th wedding anniversary (Thursday), my son’s 8th birthday (Saturday), and my niece’s wedding and reception (also Saturday).

It’s not.  The above 3 events were wonderful, and I will blog about them eventually.  But right now I can’t . . . my heart hurts too much. :(

I found out about an hour ago that one of my dearest friends had an eventful weekend too.  She miscarried a very-much anticipated 4th baby. :(

I just don’t even know what to say, you know?  Yes, I’ve gone through the pain of infertility, and yes, that totally hoovers!  But this . . .

This has got to be worse . . .

So if you wouldn’t mind saying a prayer for my dear friend J that she’d find peace and healing in Father’s time, I’d sure appreciate it . . .

And Kimberly?  Thanks for letting me steal borrow one of your favourite phrases for this blog post title.

The Windows of Heaven

I knew we’d be blessed for our willingness to sacrifice.  I guess I did not know how much though.  The phrase “O ye of little faith” comes to mind.

To the friends who have been so generous and willing to help, I pray that the blessings you receive for your kindness are such that “there shall be no room to receive it”.  Truly you have blessed my life in a tangible way, and I look forward to the day when I can return or pay forward that generosity.

It’s interesting also to see how the Lord can use adversity as a blessing in and of itself.  We had bought groceries enough to last us until last Monday (12 May).  I ended up being quite sick between the 8th and the 11th, and as such we didn’t end up doing a special Mothers’ Day supper like we’d planned for Sunday.  James and Christopher had a simple supper of some extra things we had around the house, and because I didn’t eat on Sunday night, we had enough food to make supper on Monday night.

Our first Employment Insurance payment was deposited into our bank account Tuesday morning.

The Lord is never late.

The Widow’s Mite

Yes, we’re all familiar with the storyline: a widow woman pays a Temple offering of all that she has, which is counted more to her than the rich person who donated more.  I think we (I know *I* didn’t) rarely go beyond the basics.

How much FAITH that woman must have had . . . to know that even though she was paying her LAST money to the Lord, that He would bless her in turn because of it.

My “widow’s mite” as it were sits in 2 paper bags in my fridge right now.  We signed up about a month ago to provide sack lunches tomorrow for the sister missionaries who serve in our ward.  What’s in those lunch bags represents almost all of the rest of the food we have in our house, and my husband used our last money in the bank account to go buy milk tonight.

Yet, I know that somehow we’ll be blessed for our sacrifice to serve these 2 lovely young ladies who are about the Lord’s errand . . . and my dh and I could stand to lose a little weight anyways! ;)
