Making a Difference

Firstly, THANK YOU for all the sweet and wonderful birthday comments.  I got way more than I expected and I appreciate those of you who commented and/or sent people here to comment . . . :)

And now to the business at hand.  You may have noticed over in my right hand sidebar that one of my bloggy friends is Brillig.  (She’s a great gal, so I recommend you clickity on the link to read her blog.)

Brillig made an impassioned plea for help for one of her friends in her blog last week.  Her friend Natalie has two sweet children with a very rare genetic mutation which will require them to both have liver and kidney transplants.  In fact, the youngest . . . little Claire is on dialysis daily.  I can’t even imagine the monetary cost that this family is facing, let alone the emotional toll it’s taken already.

So, this is where we come in.  I know that a lot of my readers aren’t in a position to donate a lot of money, but I would love it if you would go here and maybe even donate a dollar or two . . . I’m planning on making a donation as soon as I get my next paycheque!   Every little bit helps.

And with that in mind, I would love it as well if you’d blog about this . . . spread the word . . . !  And, keep this sweet family in your thoughts and prayers.  Help can come from many sources, and I’ve mentioned 3 . . .

In fact, I’ll mention a 4th as well!  Join the Facebook group that’s been set up by another one of Natalie’s friends.  And then invite your friends to do the same!  Spreading the word in these ways will eventually reach people who are in a position to help financially!

We are an admittedly small community over here at Key~Notes . . . but I know that even though we are small in numbers, we’re big in heart and we can help make a difference for this family!

Thanks! :)

Not A Post

That’s right . . . this is not a post . . . this is just a placeholder.

Today is my birthday so I get to make the rules, ‘k? ;)

The rule today is . . . YOU write the post . . . I want a LOT of comments for my birthday . . . a lot of nice things said about me . . . and if you can’t think of anything nice to say about me, just a simple “Happy Birthday” will do . . .

I’m 34 today . . . I don’t dare hope for 34 comments . . . but maybe 3 PLUS 4 (7)?

What I Needed

This week’s Time Out was written just for me.

You see, my birthday is tomorrow.   For me, birthdays mark a chance in my life to take stock . . . look at what the year has brought, and how I’ve dealt with it.  This year, I’m measuring myself and find I’m coming up short.  I’m trying my best to BE my best . . . but it doesn’t quite feel like enough.

The thing I want most of all is for Father to say “well done” to me when I return Home.  I want that so bad I can taste it . . . but I’m not there yet . . . and I wonder if I ever will be.  To disappoint Him would break my heart . . .

So, suffice it to say, there have been many tears shed over the past few days . . . but, as Kenneth Cope teaches in this week’s Time Out for Women blog, life IS a trail of tears:

I’ve learned that life is a trail of tears—a journey often over some pretty rough terrain—and whatever hasn’t killed us yet can refine our natures and lift us closer to our Lord.

So, I’ll try to let these tears refine me and lift me closer to the One I long to serve.  I pray that the offering of my life will be acceptable when the time comes to make an account.
